We play in the dirt for the love of our neighbors! All produce goes to the FISH food pantry and clients at the local free clinic. 2023 produced nearly 1000 pounds of food for others.

Here’s what we’re doing in 2024:

Our First Green Pepper June 12
Triple Crown Thornless Blackberries
Cukes
Apples!

FOR ALL!

The Planting Seeds of Hope Garden began in 2019 as a grant from the Center for Congregations to help with projects beyond a congregation’s budget.  A survey of the congregation suggested the creation of a caregiving space to give caregivers a respite, plus workshops designed to support the caregiver.

When COVID hit, we repurposed the grant. Derek Nelson built 4 raised beds east of the gym, Linda Cherry came on board, and the garden began. In 2021, we added an inground section east of the church, another section in 2022, and in 2023, we planted 8 apple trees and blackberry bushes. We’ve also added a greenhouse, and a pergola just to sit and enjoy!

In 2021 and 2022, we topped 1000 pounds of produce donated to FISH food pantry, near 900 pounds in 2023.

The garden continues, although it will only exist as long as volunteers step up to help out. Might you be that person?
